iWatch: 'For Colored Girls'

So I'm anxiously awaiting this movie premiere. I believe this film will be Tyler Perry's greatest work yet.

The film is based on the famous play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange (1975). It's comprised of a series of 20 poems that tell a story of love, abandonment, rape, domestic violence, abortion etc... Each situation is symbolized by a color.

My Take: love love loved the colors, they kept my attention.The film quality was on point.  He won my heart with the image of Michael Jackson (I love him to life).He depicted the image of MJ surrounded by people with red sheets similar to the Klu Klux Klan. I liked the 'last supper' gathering where he introduced his phoenix lover to his peers (mostly dark complected black people garbed in white) while they were served by white people. And as you may know he's just been winning my heart with those Got.Damn.Ballerinas. Of course I'm going to watch this a few more times to further try to interpret this film.

I was just excited to see a video that wasn't packed with plastic women. I appreciate how he decided to tell a story.

Collective (R)evolution

I'm so mad at myself for not posting this before the event. (busy body). I will make an effort to keep you all posted within a reasonable time for their future events.

This show was so moving............................I laughed, I cried (numerous times), I felt butterflies, I fell in love (numerous times), I got angry (numerous times), I felt peace, I received some reassurance. All of these feelings and emotions in one session that was about 2-3 hours. Very intense. (toooo good to be free).

Amongst the many loving souls in the room were; lowercaseletters , Ms. Wise , @GraffitiDC, Portia Richae , the amazingful host Tatiana Iman (third eye of an eagle), Ms. SheCanGo, Myself ;-), and many other beautiful loverly artist's.

I randomly often have this chick on my mind. I love her voice. I love the content in her music and the way she expresses it. It has the passion behind the expression which makes it sound like a real emotion. One of the few artist that can evoke certain emotions out of me. I appreciate her vulnerability. She reminds me of Marvin Gaye as far as her struggle and release. :-) We were meant to be.

Itching for some new tunes. I heard somewhere on television that she is indeed working on a new album =D.

So this is my newest love affair. It's crazy that I took the time to listen to this song a very dreary day. Match made in heaven ;-). I really didn't get to fully watch the entire show. Maybe I have ADD but I just couldn't keep focus lol. Seriously. But from what I did get to see, this was the highlight for me:

'A Conversation With President Obama'

Now first let me say that there was some false advertisement in the marketing for when this conversation was suppose to air..O_o's all over that. (I read/heard that it was suppose to air at 6pm and it aired at 4pm)

I loved this entire ordeal. This man, my President, is so innovative. For him to surround himself with representatives of today's youth, all put in a room to question and critique him is just genius. It is a very brave and risky act (nothing new for this beautiful man). I'm going to let you all see for yourself but this man was equip with the statistics/facts for every question that came his way so much to where it often seemed as if some of the audience members were quite subjective with their opinions and just simply didn't do their research on their topics.

His Royal Purpleness

Well well well, I am very happy to announce that His Royal Purpleness (Prince) will be touring very soon. Some time in December on a "purple day" will start the Coming to America Tour. He advised the audience to "bring foot spray, cause it's gonna be funky". =D I love it. 

Just a little added bonus......................Janelle Monae will be accompanying him on tour. (sike...thats pretty damn huge).

 

New Edition, Cassandra Wilson, and Maceo Parker will also be joining the tour

I'm so appalled by this Bill O'reilly character. To accuse an entire religious following of such a crime that was so tremendously devastating to the entire world for years and years to follow is almost beyond my comprehension. How could he be so ignorant, insensitive, and just disrespectful to a group of people that make up a pretty large population in the nation and in the world?!?! How could he be (or pretend to be) so naive of all of the other people who are probably apart of a different "religious group" that had to be involved in order for 9/11 to occur successfully?!?! I don't know, maybe it's just me but that seems pretty evident =/.

What's really sad is that there are probably many people who feel the same way.

'Crown N Glory'

Through these yellow bricks that have become the make up of my journey a few of them so far have been natural hair. I've become pretty obsessed with it. I relaxed my hair when I was 18yrs like a rebellious lunatic lol. I went natural initially by default. I couldn't afford to go to the salon every 2 weeks (I had a short cut), so I ended up going natural. I had to restart that journey due to stress =/ in the summer of 2009 so I'm almost 1 1/2 yrs natural. I love it so much. learning my natural hair and all of it's versatility. There's a sense of freedom that comes with going natural. There is a natural hair movement that is taking place now-a-days. I'm so in love with it. It's like the 70s all over again.
